Like picking a scab

Beads of sweat drip down his forehead, he hasn’t been able to sleep. The visions are becoming more real every day. Shadows hooded, exposed bone, blinding white light. He figured madness would come in an instant, crash over him like a wave. Instead it pulsates, the clarity of a moment, then the voices then the screams then quiet.
