Sphinx

Can stay focused on doom and gloom,

Only a little while, to much,

This being jury and the judge,

Know that sound, heard in a dark room.

I put my hands up to my ears,

Shut my eyes, so that all is white,

Now, left alone and without sight,

Fates grey maidens, take out the shears.

In this place where nothingness is,

On the bones of gods and heroes,

Cast iron jaw turns and says,

“You, tormented by flung arrows.

That pierced your eye and left you blind,

One thing that you must keep in mind,

Nothing lasts, ask the aged willow,

Ocean vast, big fish, small minnow.”
